Roger Waters’ The Wall Live Tour Continues

Roger Waters, former Pink Floyd front man, is set to continue his monumental world-wide The Wall Live tour, with the next concerts kicking off again in April 2011.

Following a highly successful run of dates in late 2010 Waters will showcase his unique creation, The Wall Live, in arenas in many of Europe’s greatest cities, such as London, Dublin, Paris, Zurich and Stockholm. Waters has announced that this current tour, his most ambitious to date, will almost certainly be his last as he’s not ‘a young man any more’.

The Wall Live features a performance of the entire The Wall album, one of Pink Floyd’s most acclaimed pieces of work, and has been described as one of the most ambitious and complex rock shows ever to be staged, which probably explains the vast expense of putting it together, which has been calculated as somewhere close to £37 million.

The album The Wall, which is an autobiographical rock opera, was also made into a movie in 1982, featuring Bob Geldof in the lead role of Pink, a paranoid rock star who becomes alienated from his fans and family to the extent that he builds a metaphorical wall between himself and the world. The album contained Another Brick in the Wall Part 2, the band’s only number one hit in the UK and the US.  The album was critically acclaimed upon release and was later rated at No 87 in Rolling Stone magazine’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
