The 12BET.com UK Championship is snooker’s second most important ranking tournament, carrying one and half times the ranking points of standard events.
It has a longer-frame format, with all matches played over best-of-17 frames until the final which is best-of-19.
Most of snookers great players have won the tournament since it’s inaugural staging in 1977.
Last years winner in 2009 was Ding Junhui, who started playing snooker at the young age of nine! Ding Junhui is already China’s most successful player ever, having become only the second teenager, after John Higgins, to win three ranking titles. In this year alone after winning last years UK Snooker Championship 2009, he also reached the quarter-finals of the Shanghai Masters, and the final of the Grand Prix at Kelvin Hall, Glasgow.
