The highly acclaimed sell out production of Madam Butterfly returns to the Royal Albert Hall from the 24th February to 12th March 2010.
Each performance will be set in the round and staged in an enchanting Japanese Water Garden where the floor of the Royal Albert Hall will be flooded with water. This will be a spectacular and breathtaking production.
Since its world premiere at the Royal Albert Hall in February 1998, Puccini’s Madam Butterfly has been seen by over 400,000 people. Therefore it is no surprise that this masterpiece is back by popular demand, and what better venue than where the original performance was first staged.
The Royal Albert Hall will once again open its doors to this beautiful, but tragic love story of an American naval lieutenant and his young Japanese bride. The story is set in Japan at the turn of the century.
Puccini’s Madam Butterfly, is one of the most sublime and beautiful opera’s and is believed to be amongst Puccini’s finest works, which includes the world’s most recognisable and haunting compositions.
